Art Collider Balkhash x Almaty — an open program of the interdisciplinary art and science school held alongside the international exhibition "Weaving Climate, Waters, and Communities." The exhibition is organized by Artcom Platform and Balqashqa Qamqor in partnership with Aspan Gallery.

The program explores the impact of climate risks and water scarcity on local communities, proposing a rethinking of socio-natural relations and strategies for caring for the ecosystems of Central Asia.

The school explores the interdependence of the city of Almaty as part of the transboundary Balkhash-Alakol basin, water routes, the cultural landscape, and the importance of local communities’ involvement in preserving the fragile ecosystems of Lake Balkhash.

Experts, scientists, academics, and cultural figures will discuss the current challenges of the region, share experiences and practices in pursuit of ecological and climate justice for sustainable futures.
